Cookie Policy

Cookies are small text files a website stores in your browser. We use as few as possible — some are strictly necessary for encore to work, and a small number are optional and only set if you agree.

These are always on because encore can’t function without them. They don’t need consent under applicable law.

• Session & auth (ec_*) — keep you securely signed in as you move around your account.
• Consent (ec_cookie_consent) — records your cookie choice so we don’t keep asking.

Your sign-in is held in a signed token rather than a record kept on our side. It carries who you are — not your password, and nothing about the looks you have made. Signing out clears it immediately.

Your cookie choice is kept for a year, after which we ask again. It is itself a cookie, which has one practical consequence worth knowing: clearing site data, or opening encore in a private window or a different browser, brings the banner back — the record of your earlier answer lived only on that device.

One thing that is not a cookie: whether you have seen the welcome tour is kept in your browser’s local storage, so it never travels with your requests to us.

With your consent, we use privacy-respecting analytics to understand which pages are used and where things break, so we can improve encore. These cookies are only set if you accept them in the banner, and they’re never used to build advertising profiles. If you decline, encore works exactly the same.

We keep the choice visible rather than hiding it, so that if we ever do switch a category on, it starts from a preference you actually set rather than a silent default.

You can still read every public page — the styles, pricing, the Journal and these policies. What stops working is signing in: without the session cookie encore has no way to recognise you between two clicks, so your account, your credits and your saved looks become unreachable. Blocking cookies for this site therefore signs you out, and encore behaves as though you are a new visitor each time.

When you first visit, a consent banner lets you accept or decline optional cookies. Your choice is stored in ec_cookie_consent, and you can change it any time — clearing that cookie (or your site data) brings the banner back so you can choose again.

We’ll never load optional analytics before you’ve agreed.

You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Most browsers let you clear existing cookies and refuse new ones. Note that blocking the essential cookies above will stop you from staying signed in to encore.
